Embrace Finance x Association of Chairs

Chairing Essentials: Financial Resilience for Charity Chairs (July 26)

This 75-minute reflective session is designed for chairs of small charities to step back from the day-to-day and take a moment to reflect on the financial future of their organisations.

Using the Association of Chairs’ five financial leadership questions as a guide, we will explore how these apply in your own context:

• How can we support trustees with their financial duties?

• What board arrangements will support strong financial governance?

• Do we have a clear financial plan?

• Do we have the financial information we need?

• Are key finance relationships working well?

The session invites you to reflect on the current and emerging challenges and opportunities facing your charity. Rather than focusing on technical finance, the emphasis is on financial leadership: how can you, as chair, create the conditions for good financial governance and long-term resilience?

This is a space for reflective practice, to consider what is enabling you and your board to lead towards a more financially resilient future, and what might be getting in the way. We spend time reviewing the questions with a few slides, some time in small groups and some time sharing as a wider group.

Through light facilitation and shared discussion, you’ll have the opportunity to surface insights, test assumptions, and identify practical shifts that could strengthen your organisation’s financial resilience.

You’ll leave with clearer perspectives, sharper questions, and a renewed sense of how your leadership can make a difference in uncertain times.

A supportive environment to ask questions and share experiences.
